Local officials of the city government of Vigan, led by Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson, Jr., and the Department of Public Works and Highways, met with some officials of a construction company from the Republic of Korea on March 6 at Casa Vicente, Vigan City, with regards to the implementation of the Metro Vigan Tranvia Project.
According to Mayor Singson, the project will be a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), which means it will be funded, constructed, and operated through a partnership between the government and the private sector. He emphasized that no funds from the city government will be used, and the private party will assume significant financial, technical, and operational risks in the project.
The Metro Vigan Tranvia Project will involve Vigan City, as well as the municipalities of Caoayan, Santa Catalina, San Vicente, and Bantay. The project will be implemented in phases and is expected to commence by the end of 2024.
